This distinguished gathering unites esteemed leaders and representatives from cultural institutions in Macau, Mainland China, and beyond, as we celebrate the enduring spirit of the Silk Road and delve into the frontiers of museum innovation and cross-cultural collaboration.

Session 1:

Harmony and Coexistence: Forging a Shared Future Through Dialogue and Innovation

Focusing on the characteristics of the Silk Road network in connecting different cultures, as well as the symbiotic relationship between the overland Silk Road and the maritime Silk Road, this discussion draws on examples of cultural integration along the Silk Road to explore the possibilities for transforming boundaries into bonds. The goal is to envision a Silk Road with contemporary relevance and to inspire nationwide vitality for cultural innovation and creativity.

Curating Confluence: Museums as Nexuses for Sino-Western Cultural Exchanges

This session explores how Macau’s museum and cultural heritage sectors can foster in-depth dialogue between Chinese and Western cultures through innovative modes of expression. Leveraging its unique role as a “base for exchange and cooperation grounded in Chinese culture and characterized by the coexistence of diverse cultures,” the discussion will highlight Macau’s function as a Sino-Western cultural nexus. It will also examine strategies to expand collaborative networks with the Greater Bay Area and Portuguese-speaking countries.
