The 2025 National Arts Fund Supported Project “Talent Training on the Cultural and Creative Design of Maritime Silk Road”, organized by MGM, together with the Palace Museum and Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology, has formed an authoritative faculty team to advance research and innovation on the Maritime Silk Road’s cultural history, cultivate talent, and highlight Macau’s role as a bridge for Sino‑foreign cultural exchange. The Maritime Silk Road is not only a trade route, but also a bridge for cultural exchange, mutual learning, and integration between East and West. Macau, as an important node of the Maritime Silk Road and a meeting point of Chinese and Western cultures, holds unique cultural resources and geographical advantages that play a distinctive role in the development and construction of the “Belt and Road.”
This program is organized by MGM in collaboration with Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology, bringing together an authoritative faculty team and enrolling 30 participants nationwide. The students are arranged to attend intensive courses and field studies in Beijing, Quanzhou, Guangzhou, Hengqin, and Macau; they also have the rare opportunity to engage closely with more than 20 leading experts from academia, cultural institutions, industry, and the arts, gaining invaluable experience.
The program adopts a systematic “Cultural Theory + Professional Field Study + Design Practice” training model. As Macau’s designated study base, the POLY MGM MUSEUM is committed to carrying forward heritage and connecting East and West. By blending Chinese aesthetics with technology and combining the narratives of cultural relics and the spatial telling, the museum strives to cultivate a dynamic and engaging cultural environment.
Participants gain creative inspirations from museum visits, exhibitions, and diverse exchange activities, allowing them to further explore and carry forward the cultural essence of the Maritime Silk Road. Through intensive courses and field studies, participants will enhance professional skills, strengthen competitiveness, and contribute to the sustainable cultural development of Macau and the nation.
